BUSINESS NEWS & INFORMATION:
Message from the Director – Spotlight on Small Business
Our Olive Garden opened this week to an anxious, hungry crowd. Kohl’s will be opening late March to
equally-anxious consumers. Both are successful operations and leaders in their respective segments
by offering products and service that customers desire. That’s effective marketing. These two openings
are milestones in the expanding commercial retail offerings in the County.
At the same time, smaller and lesser known businesses continue to grow in numbers and adapt to meet
the unique needs of customers throughout the County. May is Small Business Month. While it’s still a
few months away we want to start building attention to our small business community. They do so much
to fill local consumer, employee, and community needs and maintain the unique character and
personality of the County. It’s this blend of small and larger businesses that sets us apart from
anywhere USA.
Save the date: May is Small Business Month. We’d like May 2010 to be a very special spotlight on
small business. Look for more information to follow on planned activities for May. Stay posted and try to
engage in the upcoming roundtables, workshops, meetings, and other activities related to small
business. If you’re a small business, please help us by sharing what you’re doing. See the request
below for business news and the events calendar. If you’re not a small business, please visit one (or
more) and help in their (and our) success.
Have a great week, Bob
